The Sun News Article of March 17, 2009 posted on this site under "Did You Know" provides plans to move the Mosquito spraying (aerial and ground) department to the storm water department. The stormwater department is funded by a dedicated line item on your tax bill. It is far stretch of the imagination

that the mosquito spraying tasks fits the mission of the stormwater department. This borders on misappropriation of funds and I hope that council gets a legal decision on this before executing this change. This is a move to eliminate mosquito spraying from the general fund and have your stormwater tax pay for spraying which will then reduce stormwater services unless they plan on raising the stormwater tax to make up the difference. The article also indicates that fewer dirt roads will be paved. What ever happened to road improvement penny sales tax we all voted for?

It is encouraging to see the county fleet servicing budget will at least stay the same. We need to keep all of those Impalas with the optional larger dual exhaust engine on the road. These cars are rarely observed with any passengers other than the driver. How about looking at Cobalts or Focus's for them. 35 mpg highway miles would sure help the taxpayers.
